About Yan Xie (AA)
Yan Xie (she/her) is a curator based in London who looks to engage diverse communities with artistic practice. Her focus is on participatory art and the relationships it generates with participants, drawing upon ideas such as the power relations between institutions and individuals, antagonism in participatory art, collaborative art, and approaches to democratisation. She has practised and worked in museums, galleries, auction houses, art fairs, and other art institutions for over 8 years. Yan graduated with an MA in Curating Contemporary Art from the Royal College of Art. Xie has also been longlisted for the 10th edition of the Jimei × Arles Curatorial Award for Photography and Moving Image and is a member of the UK's Subject Specialist Organisation, the British Art Network.
